During a video chat lasting four minutes, the smiles of 31 individuals were slightly adjusted. In some cases, both individuals’ smiles were increased or decreased equally. In others, there were instances where the smiles were mismatched.
According to Arias-Sara, romantic attraction is influenced by the arousal experienced by participants during the interaction, as questionnaires show that arousal can increase someone’s appeal.
Proving that artificial smiles can affect love is a subject of significant ethical investigation.
Next, the researchers are exploring other digital alterations, such as changing gender, expression, eye contact and age, with the aim of analyzing their impact on social interactions such as job interviews.
